"Nano-Architectonics" refers to a technology to create a new nano-aggregation by arranging nano-sized materials in desired spots, like constructing a building with blocks. Nano-architectonics research will be an essential technology in developing the next generation of high-performance materials.
To achieve the success and synergy effect of research on the development of next-generation convergence, research in related fields including physics, chemistry, electric/electronics, and materials engineering is required. Although the 'Nano Convergence Science Research Institute' was established in 2011, the institute’s name referred to a narrow field of over-specialisation. In addition, there were restrictions on recruiting experts from various fields and applying for government fund research projects in multiple fields.
Therefore, in 2016, the name was changed to ‘Emotional Materials Collaborative Center, which can encompass not only natural science and engineering fields, but also art, humanities, and marketing fields.
