The goal of liberal arts education is to ‘cultivate the practical ability of insight, thinking, communication and empathy’. We must develop balanced thinking and communication skills through insight into the values of a fast-changing world. And this can be realised through practise within the community.
Our university has established a curriculum for Basic Liberal Arts, Balanced Liberal Arts, and Elements of Liberal Arts. In particular, Balanced Liberal Arts is divided into 6 areas covering all the general liberal arts studies, and students must obtain at least 12 credits in 4 or more classes. In addition, we are operating the ‘KNU Rock Festival, Non-Examination Program’ consisting of a Discussion & Presentation Contest, Special Humanities Lectures, and Liberal Arts Classes Proposal.
I hope that students of engineering and sciences acquire knowledge in humanities, and students of humanities receive knowledge in natural sciences. Through the fusion of Majors & liberal arts knowledge, you will be able to design the beautiful life you want. I also earnestly hope you will be liberated from the limits of knowledge, experience, thinking, and vision through liberal arts education. I hope you will experience the joy of achievement and liberation slowly and steadily.
There is a saying that ‘Study is to reflect on and awaken the countless relationships we have and develop that ability’. Youth is always a mixture of anxiety and hope. The Division of Liberal Arts will be your strong partner for reflection and awakening.
